Climate change is one of the most pressing threats to Kenya’s sustainable development, with prolonged droughts, flash floods, biodiversity loss, and resource- based conflicts disrupting lives and livelihoods. Vulnerable and marginalized communities bear the heaviest burden, facing displacement, food insecurity, poverty, and loss of income. Our Environmental and Climate Justice Programme seeks to reduce these impacts by strengthening community capacity to adapt, promoting inclusive participation in climate action, and holding duty-bearers and industry actors accountable for environmental degradation. We focus on:
Climate Adaptation: Supporting community-led initiatives, strengthening local resilience, and mainstreaming climate action into county and national development plans.
Climate Action and Accountability: Advocating for better legal and policy frameworks, promoting climate financing at county level, and ensuring industries adopt sustainable practices to prevent pollution and environmental harm.
Through this approach, we work towards a Kenya where every community can thrive in a healthy, sustainable, and climate-resilient environment.
We understand the importance of approaching each work integrally and believe in the power of simple.
